Embracing the change.

I am an artist who struggles to settle into one category. If you ask what my favorite season is I will tell you it’s when they change, and this seems to follow in my creative interests and explorations.
Trained in Fine Art with specializations in painting and ceramics, I fell into a graphic design job during my final year of college. This led to nearly a decade of freelance designing a wide variety of print materials while my husband rounded up a few degrees. Along the way I continued fine art pursuits attending workshops and classes, teaching private art lessons, taking commissioned work, and squeezing in my own art here and there.

In recent years, I have pushed to bring art to the forefront again, to pursue it with intention for the good of my soul and what is on my heart to share - because I always have things to share! Currently I am primarily working in 2D media with mixed-media, watercolor, and oil painting, alongside some collage, acrylic, and printmaking work thrown in here and there for good measure.

I am very inspired by nature - from plants and animals (particularly winged creatures!) to produce - and that is a nearly constant theme in my work. However, I also find great purpose in illustrating words and ideas, frequently using spiritual themes and texts or quotes I love as a jumping off point.

My world is regularly colored by the chaos and messes left in the wake of my four boys, who sometimes remember to clean up after themselves and have also become unexpectedly large seemingly overnight. I live with my husband and those grubby boys (including two giant, hairy canines) in a quiet town in southern Michigan trying to make the most of the days we’ve been given.
