London Plane: A Discovery

A few years ago I got to visit Spain with my husband. While my husband was at a conference, I spent my days wandering and discovering so many beautiful new things. One of those was a new-to-me tree that had the most beautiful bark patterns reaching up into a canopy of broad leaves. I had no idea what kind of tree it was, but knew I would want to paint it someday.

When I pulled out the brushes, I realized I wanted to know more. I wanted to know not only what kind of tree it was, but all the details I could find about it! I learned I was painting a London Plane tree and it was quite an exploration examining bark patterns, branch shapes, and the way the light shone through the leaves. I am looking forward to painting more of these lovely trees!

This original painting is currently displayed in a floater frame for presentation. Because it is an oil painting on canvas, it will normally be shipped framed.
